Sipping Fiery Cocktails in Portland

We recently visited our son Adam and his lovely lady Courtney in Portland, Oregon, and as usual when visiting this fair (well, mostly rainy) city, we tested the edge of the culinary envelope. The best Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had was on the demure side, but the Crispy Pig Ear was comfort food gone mad. For cocktails one night we chose an “après moi”, which featured “brown butter infused buffalo trace bourbon, burnt pumpkin and tamarind soda, condensed milk, cinnamon.” The cinnamon stick was on fire when the drink arrived, which seemed to perplex everyone including our server, though she volunteered to dispose of it in a safe, environmentally friendly manner.
