Our First Two Years in Short Hills

When my husband called from Short Hills in the fall of 2007 to say he’d found a possible new space for Belle Maison Interior Design, but that it was definitely a fixer-upper, I was intrigued enough to rush over and take a look. The photo on the top left is what I saw. I knew instantly it was the perfect spot, and the following spring we moved in. It had been a vacuum cleaner repair shop, and people still show up regularly to get their machines serviced, only to leave panic-stricken when informed of the new ownership. As we celebrate our two year anniversary, we see the move as a blessing: more space for storage, organizing samples, seeing clients and putting together schemes. And our seven parking spaces are a luxury indeed. Below left is a photo of our space today. The fixer-upper has definitely been fixed!

  1. Catherine,

I’m Mitchell’s old friend from the 70s — and all I want to say is I wish I had a wife like you!!! (I’m happily married, but, you know, every good woman needs a wife.) Wish I could get it together to make places as pretty as you do! Amazing stuff!

Have a great time in France,
