Other Worldly Wool

I met with Sandra Jordan, who was extolling the virtues of fabrics made from the wool-like coats of alpacas. These odd-looking animals (they remind me of Star Wars creatures) live in the Andes Mountains and produce a luxuriously soft and pliable fabric. The samples I saw were in attractive pastel colors, but the palette is quite broad. I’d use it for everything from a throw to a beautiful period chair. Actually, I think the fabric would make a lovely handbag with some leather accents.
