Before and After in Bayonne

I changed the dining room to the living room in our Bayonne restoration to expand seating, add bookcases and a TV, and let the sunshine in. In the “before” photo you can see the heavy dark trim that made the room a dull, dour space, while the wall paper made the room appear smaller. In the “after” photo you can see the painted trim and painted wood shutters and shears to let the light in and preserve privacy. The window treatments are one-piece swag and jabots in silk plaid. The rich green, gold and red jewel tones of the oriental rug anchor the room and pick up the colors of the heavy duty fabrics on the seating surfaces. There is still work to be done—we’ll be replacing the chandelier and adding small tables next to and behind the sofa. But the interior design of the room has taken on a much brighter, cleaner and more sophisticated look, in keeping with the rest of the project.
