“It’s a terrific space, Tony, but do you think a TV will fit?

This New Yorker cartoon comments on the challenge of fitting ever-larger flat screen TVs into an elegant interior design scheme. A dedicated home theater avoids this conundrum, and TVs that rise majestically from cabinets are another solution. Glass panels can reveal hidden TVs, and the screens themselves can be used as high-res art displays. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer well-integrated screens that don’t dominate a room. The goal should be proportions that fit the space, like any other design element. And, (blasphemy!) is it possible that not every room needs a TV?
