Living Rooms and the Art of Listening

So much of an interior designer’s job is listening. Style, beauty and comfort are highly subjective. In order to create a space that fits like a glove, I must do more than take measurements. I must know more than the colors and textures my client responds to. I must develop a feel for who they are and how they live. I must be open to a multiplicity of approaches. Take these four living rooms. The styles are as dissimilar as the four couples involved, yet each found the design to be exactly what they were looking for. Interior design is as far from one size fits all as you can get. It’s completely bespoke, custom made, providing the answers to your own personal questions about who you are and the space in which you live.
