Filling the Empty Space

I start with an empty space, like the blank page or canvass of a composer or painter. First I fill in the back ground—tan walls, titanium ceiling, sisal floors—then the foreground—gold and teal chairs, butterscotch ottomans, cream sofa—and then the accents—green botanical prints, pillow and hydrangeas in the white fireplace, and the silk window covering in teal and gold. Add some tension with the black fireplace, picked up by the area rug. The goal is a harmonic composition, whether in music, painting—or interior design. For more living room photos, click here.
