Before and After Kitchen Remodel

MBethBefKit-e1365084867807Since I posted a photo of a recent kitchen remodel my client found a “before” picture that offers a good illustration of the project. First off, we did not gut the kitchen, as you can see, yet the change is remarkable.

By removing the cabinets on either side of the cook top, and replacing the plaster hood with a stainless steel model, we created a more contemporary, open look. Changing the heavily grouted ceramic tile to Carrera marble enhanced this feel. The marble was extended under the cabinets above the counter top to create a continuous wall of stone. Crown molding was removed on top of the cabinets, elevating the ceiling. The looming chandelier was replaced by uniform recessed lighting, giving more light while further opening the space. The island was extended five feet, painted, and given a straight-edged design, with new hardware.

As I said in the previous post, the interior design goal of this project was “to increase functionality while creating a clean, streamlined, almost industrial design.” These pictures show how dramatically these goals were achieved.
