A Touch of French Style

My client wanted a touch of French style for their renovated home. After several conversations, I understood their desire to be not too ornately traditional, yet classically French. In this bedroom you can see the results: the ottoman under the window features a rubbed white finish, rather than a more ornamented gold. The bed is relatively simple, upholstered with linen on the footboard and large headboard. Window sheers and silhouette shades continue the uncluttered, airy feel.

The mirrored night tables are framed in a light hued wood, a perfect mix of traditional sophistication with a touch of the transitional, topped by graceful wood urn lamps. Muted gray/taupe wall colors are continued in the print patterned bedding.

The art above the bed features detail photos of French antique doors and cremone locks. A pair of decorative painted metal sconces frame the photos.

This is classic French style that is simple, clean, without embellishment. Yet redolent of the je ne said quoi—that indefinable something—that that makes it unmistakably French. See more bedrooms here.
